Permanent Employer Sponsored Visa categories review

The Federal Government's Permanent Employer Sponsored Visa Categories Review discussion paper is open for comment until 16 September 2011.

About the review
The review will consider how permanent Employer Sponsored visas can be realigned to:
- provide employers with access to the skilled workers they need and
- best respond to changes in Australia's labour market and economy.
The visas under review are:
- Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (subclasses 119 and 857)
- Employer Nomination Scheme (subclasses 121 and 856)
- Labour Agreement (subclasses 121 and 855)
Following the public consultation the Department will develop recommendations and put these to the government for consideration. The Department will seek to implement any changes to the employer sponsored visas from 1 July 2012, in conjunction with the introduction of SkillSelect.
