Sponsorship of Former PhD Graduates

As of September 2011, the Victorian Skilled and Business Migration Program is offering state sponsorship to a limited number of international graduates who have completed a PhD within a Victorian university.
Former PhD graduates who qualify as one of the occupations on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) - Schedule 1 and 2 (201 KB, PDF file) are eligible for sponsorship either through the 176 or 886 visa streams. This means that PhD graduates who have left Australia can also apply for state sponsorship.
These sponsorships are unique to Victoria.
This is a streamlined pathway to permanent residency for those who have completed their PhD in the last five years.
