July visa changes for skilled migrants

The Commonwealth Government has made changes to the visa eligibility criteria for skilled migrants, effective 1 July 2017. 

The maximum age requirement for the Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa and the Skilled Regional (subclass 489) visa has been reduced to 45 years of age. You must now apply to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection foeither visa before your 45th birthday. 

Some occupations  are also no longer eligible for the Skilled Nominated (subclass 190) visa and the Skilled Regional (subclass 489) visa. 

Victoria's visa nomination criteria has been updated to reflect these changes - effective immediately.

Occupations removed from Victoria's visa nomination occupation lists are: 

Chemist 324211
Mining Engineer (excluding Petroleum) 233611
Physicist 234914
Software and Applications Programmers nec 261399
Statistician 224113
