Victoria’s State Migration Plan

Extensive research and industry consultation is undertaken to ensure that Victoria’s skilled migration program sponsors migrants with highly sought occupations, and those with a strong likelihood of finding work in Victoria’s labour market. The occupations listed are endorsed by the Commonwealth Government’s Department of Immigration and Citizenship through Victoria’s State Migration Plan.

This year, Victoria is seeking to attract up to 6000 skilled migrants and their dependants, in a range of priority industries.  In 2010-11, Victoria attracted more than 4000 skilled migrants and their dependants, providing critical skills and experience to Victorian workplaces and industries and strengthening communities across Victoria.
