Our Department
Skilled and Business Migration Program
The Skilled and Business Migration Program (SBMP), which is part of the Victorian Government's Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development (DIIRD), aims to attract overseas skilled professionals, tradespeople, business owners and investors to Victoria to meet ongoing workforce needs that cannot be met locally..
The program positions Victoria as a great place to live and work, and has increased Victoria's share of Australia’s skilled migrants from around 17.6 percent in 1998-99 to 26.9 percent in 2007-08.
SBMP offers free information and services to:
- prospective skilled and business migrants
- migration agents and representatives
- employer groups and industry associations who are experiencing skills shortages.
