Free services to skilled professionals, tradespeople, business owners and investors who plan to or have recently migrated to Victoria include:

  • visa sponsorship
  • information about migrating, living and working in Melbourne and in Victoria's regional communities
  • access to Regional Skilled Migration Coordinators in Victoria's regions who can provide information about employment opportunities, work preparation training and post-employment support
  • links to public and private employment and business services
  • free seminars for skilled migrants who have recently arrived in Australia, providing expert advice on finding work in selected occupations
  • support for exploratory, short-term stay business visas.

Facilitation and referral

We can also link business migrants to government agencies and private sector agencies, including the Office of Small Business to:

  • prioritise the types of business activity that best suit your circumstances
  • discuss market and feasibility research options with you
  • direct you to the most appropriate sources of information for market research
  • discuss business development opportunities with you, including business planning
  • provide information and referral to develop realistic business strategies to operate a business in Victoria.

Victorian employers

Victorian employers have access to the following services:

  • Resumes/curriculum vitaes of qualified and experienced skilled migrants who have recently arrived or will soon be arriving in Victoria to fill skill shortages
  • Help sourcing skilled migrants for job vacancies
  • Information on visa options to sponsor a skilled migrant to Victoria
  • Information and referral to find out if a migrant's qualifications are recognised in Victoria
  • Can sponsor migrants to Victoria whose skills are listed on Victoria's Eligibility Lists.

Local government, industry and migration agents

Services provided to local government, industry, migration agents, employer and community groups include:

  • providing advice to help address skill shortages in the region or industry
  • organising forums to inform industry, employer and regional groups about addressing skill shortages through migration programs
  • seminars to help attract business migrants to regions
  • seminars to assist migration agents, accountants, legal firms and others to promote Victoria as a business migration destination and attract eligible business migrants to Victoria.
