Export & Import
Victoria provides excellent transport and telecommunications infrastructure throughout the state, including an integrated network of road, rail, sea and air transport, and access to regional, national and international markets.
Air
Melbourne is a high-speed, low-cost base to access the region. Melbourne International Airport is Australia's largest 24-hour, curfew-free, freight and passenger airport. It has fast access to the city centre and is at the junction of three major freeways. Airfreight rates are very competitive.
Sea
The Port of Melbourne provides speedy and price-competitive international shipping services. It is Australia's largest and most modern container-handling port, operating 24 hours a day and handling 40 percent of Australia's overseas container trade. Bulk goods are also capably handled at Victoria's regional ports.
Telecommunications
Australia is the eighth largest telecommunications market in the world and boasts a state-of-the-art communications infrastructure. The telecommunications industry is deregulated, encouraging healthy price and package competitiveness among providers. Melbourne is fully cabled, with broadband optical fibre within 100 metres of every major office location in the city centre. Melbourne is also the home to Australia's largest telecommunications network, Telstra.

Export support and assistance
Both the Victorian and the Australian Government are keen to support local businesses that export goods and services internationally. Exporting accounted for around 20 percent of Australia's GDP in 2007/08. The major destinations for goods and services exported from Victoria are New Zealand, Japan, USA, Singapore, Republic of Korea and China.
