Occupation Lists

Victoria’s occupation lists (previously called Eligibility Lists) identify eligible occupations and requirements to apply for state nomination.

Victoria has two occupation lists which relate to specific visas:

To determine if you are eligible to apply for nomination and learn how to apply, visit our State Nomination page.

Extensive research and industry consultation is undertaken to ensure that Victoria’s skilled migration program attracts migrants with highly sought occupations, and those with a strong likelihood of finding work in Victoria’s labour market.

These occupations are endorsed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship through Victoria’s State Migration Plan.

Victoria’s occupation quotas

Victoria applies quotas to the number of nominations it will offer by industry under the State Migration Plan.  This is to ensure that state nominated skilled migrants have a mix of occupations that address Victoria’s labour market needs.

You can now check which occupations are experiencing a high volume of applications, and those open or closed for nomination applications by viewing the relevant Occupation List and using the following colour system.

Green occupations
Applications currently being accepted for this occupation.
Orange occupations
A high number of applications received for this occupation. Applications likely to close before the end of the program year.
Red occupations
Applications no longer accepted for this occupation as a very high number of applications received.

These indicators are updated on Victoria’s occupation lists at the start of every month or as required.
