Building & Construction Industry
Overview
Victoria's building and construction industry is a major driver of the state's economy. It includes:
- residential building
- commercial building
- engineering construction and service
- architectural engineering
- construction trades such as bricklaying, electrical work and plumbing.
Industry size
In 2006-07 building activity in Victoria was valued at around A$16.7 billion. Around 180,000 full-time and 32,500 part-time workers worked in the industry in the August quarter of 2007.
